Q: Why the name HaulHound?
Andy–
Hounds are an incredibly loyal breed, and they have keen senses that enable them to search and find things.
Hounds are fast, and they’re relentless. They don’t go after the kill, but they aid in the search on the hunt. So, just like our search engine, hounds seek and track very quickly, and are a great partner in the ‘hunt’ for freight.
Also, we love dogs. I own a hound myself!
Q: How do dogs pertain to the trucking industry?
Andy–
Dogs are not a new association with the trucking industry. Great Danes and Bulldogs have been used as logos, however with the Hound, that breed is so specific and aligns with what we aim to achieve in our industry—to search, to find and to remain forever loyal.
Chris–
Trucking is a lonely industry. Many truckers have their dogs on the road with them for companionship, as well as for safety. Dogs are service animals. What we are going for with this mascot is that they are big on help, safety and security. When they are in the cab, they remove boredom, too. They’re every trucker’s best friend. That’s what we want to be.
Q: Were there any other breed of dog [or other animal] ever considered for the name?
Andy and Chris–
No. [They laughed]
Q: When you think of HaulHound what do you think?
Andy–
Exactly what the logo depicts–the Hound hauling swiftly ahead.
Chris–
Dogs are man’s best friend—Haulhound is a trucker’s best friend.
